“..The ’20s are roaring. Liquor is flowing, bullets are flying, and one man sets out to make his mark on the world.” So begins the IMDB plot summary for Ben Affleck’s latest film ‘Live by Night’. National release begins Friday, but the news reminds us of one of our favorite projects in the area. The film sets include many Coastal Georgia locations near the classically Greek-Revival (Hampton Island) home we did for the family.
Ben Affleck “totally fell in love” with coastal Georgia while shooting Forces of Nature in 1998 and, in 2003, he purchased a Greek Revival-style house for $7 million. Located in a marshy area of coastal Georgia, only a creek separates the 83-acre property from the mainland. The nearest town, the small and remote Riceboro, is four miles away while the nearest city, Savannah, is 35 miles away. Built in 1998, the property was designed and photographed for a previous owner by the architectural firm Historical Concepts.
Hampton Island exists peacefully along the coast—just south of Savannah, Georgia—between St. Catherine’s and Ossabaw Islands.
